With love and chocolate: 10 special Valentine dessert recipes

Sun, 8 February, 2026

My idea of the perfect Valentine’s Day: the two of us in the kitchen, mixing batter, melting chocolate, sprinkling sugar and dribbling icing!

If that sounds like your thing too, have a look at my ten delicious, naughty and nice recipes for sweet Valentine’s treats perfect to make together.

Chocolate mousse

For Valentine’s Day, it must be chocolate! And this is the easiest chocolate mousse recipe, a simple, two ingredient, eggless chocolate dessert ready in minutes. Make a chocolate ganache, cool it down then whip it lightly – that’s it!

Almond and brown butter madeleines

A madeleine for a Valentine: this is my personal favourite, both because it’s absolutely divine in taste and because it’s so easy! Prepare the madeleine batter with only a tiny bit of fuss (brown butter) even a few days ahead, then bake a batch on the day.

Raspberry cream roulade

Raspberry cream roulade with light sponge base rolled into a log with whipped cream filling is deliciously light and surprisingly easy to make. You might also know it as a Swiss roll or cream roll. Try it with fresh or frozen berries or any other fruit you like.

Mini pavlovas

Mini pavlovas, homemade meringue nests with whipped cream and fruit toppings: passion fruit, pomegranate and raspberry. Simple and gorgeous, individual meringues are easier to bake than a big pavlova. Also, I’ll just whisper it: those shop-bought meringue nests will do the trick too.

Oscar II cake

Like a giant, almond buttercream-filled macaron, Oscar II cake is also known as Swedish almond tart. It's easy to make and absolutely delightful, it’s named after king Oscar II of Sweden and Norway. Yes, they sell it in IKEA and no, the homemade version is not any less delicious.

Valentine mini heart cake

Mini heart shaped sponge cake for Valentine’s Day: what’s more fitting? A cute and easy Valentine Victoria sponge sandwich filled with jam and whipped cream, made with a heart shaped cutter.

Meringue kisses

Mini meringue kisses, dainty and cute, are filled with the nicest white and dark chocolate ganache. Swirl a drop of food colouring through the meringue mix or leave them pristine and white. And the chocolate ganache is the easiest thing to make.

Rose and raspberry Valentine biscuits

Rose and raspberry heart-shaped biscuits just perfect for Valentine’s Day. Instead of a Valentine card you can together bake a batch of these dainty cookies, tender, sweet and fragrant.

Guava cake with pink buttercream frosting

How about a Hawaiian guava cake with pink buttercream frosting? It’s made from reduced guava juice. It looks like a six years old girl’s dream. It tastes like heaven.

Marzipan truffles

Making homemade chocolate truffles sounds like the perfect thing to do on Valentine’s evening. Marzipan truffles, chocolate covered balls of homemade marzipan, and the chocolate is also homemade! Vegan, easy and utterly delicious.
